Sacred Storm Buffalo Butcher Shop & Healthy Market Now Accepting EBT/SNAP Benefits

Increasing Access to Healthy, Culturally-Rooted Foods for All

Rapid City, SD — Sacred Storm Buffalo, a Native-led butcher shop and healthy market dedicated to bringing fresh, local bison and healthy Indigenous food products to the community, is proud to announce it is now accepting EBT/SNAP benefits.

This new development makes Sacred Storm Buffalo the first Native-owned butcher shop in the region to accept EBT, opening its doors wider to families seeking affordable, healthy, and culturally-significant foods.

“We believe good food is a right, not a privilege,” said Chris White Eagle, Executive Director of Sacred Storm Buffalo and a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. “Now, anyone using EBT can shop our selection of bison meat, Indigenous snacks, fresh produce, and healthy market staples. We’re building a food system rooted in culture, wellness, and dignity for all.”

A Food Hub with a Mission
Sacred Storm Buffalo Butcher Shop and Healthy Market offers:

  • Fresh-cut bison and frozen bison and beef

  • Native-made snack sticks, jerky, and bapa (dried meat)

  • Handcrafted Indigenous goods and Pretty Pink Buffalo tallow-based wellness products

  • Workforce development for Native youth and young adults

A Step Toward Food Sovereignty
Sacred Storm Buffalo is a social enterprise of Wambli Ska Community Development Society, a local 501c3 nonprofit, committed to rematriation economics focusing on food sovereignty, workforce development, and the revitalization of Lakota traditions.
