The Origin of Iron Hoof Grill
Born from the vision of Sacred Storm Buffalo, the Iron Hoof Grill is more than a food truck—it’s a mobile classroom, a cultural revival on wheels, and a symbol of Indigenous self-determination in motion. It was created to bring the Sacred Storm mission to the streets: reconnecting our people to ancestral foodways, reclaiming public space with Indigenous presence, and creating viable career pathways for Native youth.
Iron Hoof Grill is the natural extension of our buffalo-based economy. As Sacred Storm processes each buffalo with reverence—from hide to horn to heart—Iron Hoof Grill Food Truck brings that full-circle story to the plate. It is where field harvest becomes nourishment, where training becomes a livelihood, and where food becomes ceremony.
Buffalo-Fueled, Youth-Powered
Staffed by youth apprentices from Wambli Ska’s Warrior’s Lodge and other Sacred Storm workforce development programs, Iron Hoof Grill Food Truck is a proving ground for real-world skills. Our young people don’t just learn how to cook—they learn how to lead. From food prep and sanitation to customer service and mobile business management, every day in the truck is an education grounded in both practical experience and cultural values.
For many of these young men and women, Iron Hoof Grill is their first job. It’s also the first time they’ve seen themselves reflected in leadership, tradition, and vision—all while earning a paycheck and building pride. The truck becomes a safe space, a platform, and a powerful symbol that Native youth are not forgotten—they are our future.
