Feeding the People, Honoring the Buffalo: Sacred Storm Buffalo’s Commitment to Community Nourishment

At Sacred Storm Buffalo, every harvest begins with a prayer and ends with a promise: to feed our people, strengthen our communities, and honor the sacred relationship between the buffalo and the Lakota Nation. This winter, we are humbled to participate in the Feed The People campaign—an initiative rooted in sovereignty, generosity, and collective survival.

Across rural homelands and within the heart of North Rapid City, our team has been working tirelessly to harvest, process, transport, and distribute buffalo meat to relatives who need it most. This isn’t just about delivering food—it’s about delivering dignity, strength, and connection.

From the Prairie to the People: Traditional Foods for Rural Families

Rural Tribal communities often face limited access to fresh, healthy, and culturally relevant protein. Through the Feed The People campaign, Sacred Storm Buffalo supports the efforts to deliver:

  • Fresh bison meat delivered to Tribal communities for direct delivery

  • Access for Elders who cannot travel

  • Support for families with children experiencing food insecurity

  • Partnerships with organizations who are supporting the healthy and well being of community members

These deliveries are more than meals—they are reminders that our communities are not alone.

A Movement Rooted in Sovereignty

The Feed The People campaign is not charity.
It is sovereignty.
It is self-determination.
It is reclaiming a food system that once sustained our ancestors for thousands of years.

When our buffalo feed our people, we strengthen a cycle that heals, unites, and uplifts our communities.

Wópila — Thank You

To our Tribal partners, philanthropic organizations, donors, volunteers, and community members:
Thank you for standing with us in this sacred work.

Sacred Storm Buffalo remains committed to feeding the people, restoring our relationship with the buffalo, and building a future where Native families thrive—on the land, in our cities, and in every place our relatives call home.
